Spotlight on – Our Dementia Choir

Using the power of music to bring people together

April 7th 2026

At Mansfield Innovation Centre, we’re proud to support a diverse community of inspiring organisations. This month, we had the pleasure of speaking with Our Dementia Choir, a remarkable group using the power of music to bring people together and raise awareness of dementia.

To learn more about their work and the impact they’re making, we caught up with the team for a quick Q&A — here’s what they shared:

What does Our Dementia Choir do?

Our Dementia Choir, founded by Vicky McClure, brings together people living with dementia and their carers to sing in a supportive choir environment. The group uses music to improve wellbeing, boost confidence, and help trigger memories, while also reducing isolation by creating a strong community. Through rehearsals, performances and awareness campaigns, the choir highlights the positive impact music can have on people affected by dementia.

What were your first impressions of the centre?
Everyone is incredibly warm and welcoming. The centre is perfect for our charity. We need an accessible space that feels safe when working alone, with the added benefit of extra rooms available to hire for meetings and events. We’re so pleased to be part of this community.
Have you had the chance to meet any neighbouring businesses or tenants? / Do you see opportunities for collaboration or networking in this environment?

We’ve been given such a warm welcome by everyone we’ve met. Already, several businesses have approached us about volunteering with the charity, and we’ve also had conversations with a company about potentially using one of their employee benefits services. A member of our team has already attended one of the networking and training sessions, and connecting with businesses outside our usual sector is opening up all sorts of new possibilities.

Any tips for future tenants moving in?
Join the networking sessions – They’re a brilliant opportunity to meet other businesses and discover potential collaborations.
What made you choose this office space for your business?

The location was a real draw – the centre is easy to access and close to where many of our team and choir members live. The offices are modern, light and airy, and there’s a great sense of professionalism while still feeling welcoming and inclusive. And of course, Sarah’s café is a definite bonus!

What’s your take on the overall vibe or culture in the building?

Really impressed with how it all works so well, given the amount of different businesses based here.  It’s warm and friendly with so many networking opportunities.

If you were deserted on a desert island, which member of the Mansfield Innovation Centre staff would you take with you, and why?
Honestly, it would have to be all of them! Each member of the Mansfield Innovation Centre team brings something different – whether it’s problem-solving, organisation, positivity, or just a great sense of humour. If you were stuck on a desert island, you’d definitely want that mix of skills and personalities to keep things running smoothly and spirits high! Thank you for making us feel so welcome!
It’s fantastic to hear how welcomed and supported the team at Our Dementia Choir feel here at Mansfield Innovation Centre. We’re proud to provide a space where organisations can truly thrive, connect, and feel at home. We’re especially excited to continue building this relationship and look forward to hopefully welcoming the choir into the centre for some uplifting performances in 2026!
