Motorhome Depot Case Study a growing business within Mansfield IC
BuyMyMotorhome and Motorhome Depot specialise in all aspects of Motorhome and Caravan vehicle sales. Whether it be a trade supply route or a brokerage option, they aim to help buyers and sellers alike with their extensive experience in the leisure sector. We spoke to Adam Reek, about how he and his fellow Director Richard Wood started their business, what they are currently working on and how they find life at Mansfield Innovation Centre.
How did you start your business?
We have been working together now for over 10 years on various companies and projects, all within the leisure sector, and these businesses have just organically grown and developed in to what we have achieved today. We initially came together working in a motorhome dealership back in 2007 and then it has grown from there. Knowing the pitfalls of running a dealership lead us to setting up BuyMyMotorhome which is a trade supply route for stock in to dealerships. This is where Mansfield IC comes in; we moved here in 2010, taking on the smallest office they had available with just 4 staff members. The business rapidly grew and left us an abundance of sales enquiries that needed dealing with, so the team quickly grew in size and we developed Motorhome Depot to help people sell their motorhomes. The model was quickly franchised and has grown to be the backbone of what we do today. Our team is now 30 staff strong, along with the franchisees, and we occupy 2 large offices and 2 units within Mansfield Innovation Centre. The growth has all been afforded by the Innovation Centre who have been there to hold our hand and grow with us as a business, not to mention the help we’ve received along the way!
What are you working on at the moment?
The one thing we’re not very good at is standing still! We’re always looking to develop our brands and business further and really push on to see what we can achieve. 2018 has been a great year for us, we launched our new website in July and have seen enquiries and website traffic soar as a result.
2018 saw us start to introduce and pilot our new franchise – Habcheck. This a service based franchise where we can offer impartial habitation and pre-purchase inspections on both motorhomes and caravans. Fully backed by the National Caravan Council and Approved Workshop Scheme, we give buyers peace of mind and owners the knowledge that their vehicle has been fully checked. A great opportunity if you’re looking for a new venture, or likewise, let us know if you’ve got a motorhome or caravan and would like any help.
What projects / ambitions do you have for the future of your business?
Our main focus for the coming months and years is the successful growth of Habcheck; building up another strong franchise model and building on the positive signs that we’ve had so far, as well as the continued growth within Motorhome Depot and BuyMyMotorhome. As for new projects… you never know – watch this space!
