One of the latest success stories is Elite Accountancy & Payroll Ltd, a start-up that joined the Centre in December 2023 and has quickly grown its client base — and its footprint.

The Challenge

Elite Accountancy & Payroll launched with a clear vision: to offer comprehensive, high-quality accountancy and payroll services to local businesses. They moved into one of Mansfield Innovation Centre’s newly created start-up offices designed specifically to support early-stage companies.

Within months, demand for their services grew rapidly. The business reached a point where their qualified accountant, a key revenue generator, was spending valuable time on administrative tasks instead of focusing on higher-value client work. To continue growing sustainably, the team needed to:

• add administrative capacity
• free up time for specialist work
• move into a larger workspace to accommodate future growth
• invest in IT, storage, and infrastructure.

The Support Provided

Elite Accountancy & Payroll received coordinated, hands-on support from the Centre’s team throughout their growth journey. Working together, our Centre Manager and Innovation Director helped the business assess its options and put a practical plan in place.

• identifying a larger office within Mansfield Innovation Centre that could accommodate a new employee and provide a more professional client-facing environment
• strategic business advice from our Innovation Director, helping the directors map out how improved resourcing would enable the accountant to focus on high-value client acquisition.
• securing external support, successfully helping the company apply for two small grants, each covering up to 50% of their investment in upgraded infrastructure, including IT systems and storage
• guidance on recruitment planning, ensuring the business could confidently move forward with creating its first non-director role.

The Impact

• a new job created: the business has successfully recruited a part-time administrator
• improved efficiency and profitability: the accountant can now dedicate time to higher-value work and client acquisition
• a more professional working environment: the new, larger office now includes dedicated client meeting space, enhancing service delivery
